TRENDY – ENERGETIC – UNPRETENTIOUS – SIMPLE
When I met Kelly and Nate they had recently purchased a new home for their young family. Kelly pronounced, “I hate this kitchen. I hate the stone fireplace. I hate the wall color. I don’t like the built-ins. I don’t know where to start. I want to rip it all out. What will that cost?”
Step 1: Identify Kelly’s color palette.
As we did so it became apparent Kelly did not really hate the granite, fireplace, etc.~they matched all her personal belongings~but the wall color had to go. Much less expensive!
We walked around the house discussing the pros and cons of applying the various hues in her palette throughout the home: determining tone, adding accents, blending, and juxtaposing to create visual dominance, balance, and flow.
A few hours later we had a plan; a week later she no longer ‘hated’ her new house.
The results look like an overhaul but really only involved a few brush strokes. Still to come: window treatments, artwork, and décor.
“I recently worked with Hilary to assist me in selecting interior paint colors. Hilary is professional, flexible and knowledgeable. She asked what I planned on keeping and what I wanted to change in order to establish a color palette. The color palette looks amazing and now I know what colors to use for accessories! Her flair for color and texture is just what I needed for my house! The colors look great!”
